The challenge
Backups existed at each site but nobody had tested a restore, and there was no written plan if a site or the cloud tenant was lost.
What we did
- Agreed recovery targets with the leadership team
- Added independent Microsoft 365 and server backup with offline copies
- Ran restore tests and documented the results
- Wrote a disaster recovery runbook
The results
- Recovery target of 4 hours agreed and proven
- Restore tests run every quarter
- Both locations covered by one plan
