Slow is usually a handful of causes
Most slow WordPress sites share the same few problems. Check these in order before rebuilding anything.
1. Hosting
Cheap shared hosting struggles under traffic. Look at server response time first: if it is slow before any page loads, the host is the bottleneck.
2. Plugins and themes
Every plugin adds code. Remove what you do not use, replace heavy plugins with lighter ones and keep everything updated.
3. Images
Oversized images are the most common cause of heavy pages. Compress them, use modern formats and lazy-load images below the fold.
4. Caching and CDN
Page caching and a CDN such as Cloudflare serve most visitors without hitting WordPress at all.
5. Database and background tasks
Old revisions, transients and runaway scheduled tasks slow the dashboard and the front end. Clean them up regularly.
