Phishing keeps working because it targets people
Attackers use convincing branding and urgent requests. Filtering stops most of it, but a few messages always get through.
Signs to watch for
- Unexpected requests for passwords, payments or gift cards
- Urgency or threats, such as accounts closing today
- Sender addresses that look almost right
- Links that go somewhere different from what they say
- Attachments or QR codes you were not expecting
Verify through another channel
If a request involves money or credentials, confirm it by phone using a number you already know, not one in the message.
Controls that reduce the risk
MFA, email filtering, safe links and device protection limit the damage when someone clicks.
Make reporting easy
